My numberplates arrived today, and I'm quite happy with how they turned out.

Todsay I received my NG numbers.
Dimensionly they are correct and the lettering font is correct.

I am a happy chappy.

Some years ago I had some etched in G scale and at the time the trouble was the painting.
Black background and whitew raised portions. Normally one would attack, paint the black and then try by devious means to get the white on the raised parts.
I failed and ended up painting the raised white by hand. Not so bad on G scale numbers as they are considerably larger.

This time I am goiung to ty reverse osmosis. Spray the white all over. Then coat the high parts with something paint will not stick and spray the black. When black is dry wipoe over and hopefully the raised sections will be white.

What da ya reckon?

regards Ron.

I know they are not Nicks boards but I did these this week. I sprayed them with with Humbrol gloss white and let this dry for 48 hours. I them painted them over with India ink wiping off the raised section with my finger. I let this dry and then repeated this process touching up any light patches.

That's quite a good result.

Some of Broad Gauge Models earlier plates (the E, A2 and N class) had the number plates etched on thin(ner) material, and are very shallow, making it difficult to get a good definition of the characters on the plates. This is part of the reason for getting some etched (yet to build all three of the aforementioned locos).

In addition, I'm going to modify the running board on the E class to build one of the shunters with an A2 buffer beam. It'll probably be E369, which there was no number for in the original set.
