Re: HOn30 modelling.

I have now laid the track work and run a carriage around to debug it. I did have to make some alterations to a couple of sidings and reduce the radius. I am now wiring it for DCC. All the droppers are in for each length of track and sidings. 15 in all. Now I have to turn the layout upside down to do...

Re: Building VR NG HOn30 rolling stock.

ILM sent me an upgraded kit for the NH to assemble. I have just made the effort and put it together to test the modifications to the kit. I wont go through the whole process but I do wash all the pieces to get any residual nasties off the castings.. I pat dry them with paper towel and leave them on ...

Re: HOn30 modelling.

I have started another narrow gauge layout. I always wanted to do a fishing port of some description. This is a one piece small layout 1750mm x 850mm just a couple of inches shorter each way than 6 x 3. The reason being that it will fit in the Corolla with the back seats down. I will be using Minitr...

WW1 Victorian Railways Unit.

I posted this a while back in a modelling item and it really should have been here.
This find actually helped me with my family tree for both my father who was guard and my uncle who was a goods guard.

Re: Buy, Swap & Sell

I have now been advised that my son and grandson are going to 'N' gauge. This means that I have quite a bit of HO to thin out in the future. My starting point is with an NA 6A in HOn30 as described in Model Dockyard NA. This is 6A with spoked wheels, NWSL 0.3mod gearbox modified to fit HOn30, Mashim...

Re: Building VR NG HOn30 rolling stock.

Just treat the NT the same as the NU vans. I have used the short step for the later era that I model. Therefore if doing this era cut the steps off with a sharp exacto as close to the body as you can get The side pieces 1.5mm x 2mm need to be added. When you are happy with everything fit the roof. I...

Re: Building VR NG HOn30 rolling stock.

Now we will deal with the NT van. Placed in service in 1899 as NTT 1, the only vehicle of its type. The wooden body insulated with cow hair, was vertically planked both outside and inside, with hinged double doors on each side and roofed with curved corrugated iron. When issued to service on the Gem...

Re: Building VR NG HOn30 rolling stock.

The NH is now finished and when the weather improves it will go into the paint shop. The next one to do will be the NT. I have addressed the problems with the NU, NH and NT kits with ILM. Ian took over these kits and I am the first one to provide feedback of the error. I have sent him a sheet which ...
